The story begins with the fall of Mangalasherry Neelakantan's (Mohanlal) son Karthikeyan (Mohanlal).. Aashirvad Cinemas was the production house involved in the project along with executive producer(s) Antony Perumbavoor. The film is written and directed by Ranjith Balakrishnan. Swargachithra acquired the distribution rights for the film. Ravanaprabhu was released on 31st August 2001 and takes a screen time of 175 minutes.
