Subhalekha is a 1982 Telugu-language Family Drama motion picture written by Gollapudi Maruti Rao and directed by K. Viswanath and produced by Allu Aravind and V. V. Sastry under the banner of Prasanthi Creations. Subhalekha features Chiranjeevi in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Sumalata, Sumalatha Ambarish, Satyanarayana Kaikala, Tulasi, Ramana Murthi J.v. and Girish. The screenplay is written by K. Viswanath. The music was composed by K. V. Mahadevan. Cinematography was done by Lok Singh and editing by G. G. Krishna Rao. The film has a running time of 139 mins. It was released on 11th June 1982. At the 1983 South Filmfare Awards It won an award for Best Actor (Chiranjeevi). Subhalekha is family oriented movie in which, the story is made with a message on dowry and was a huge musical hit and a Jewel in the crown for our megastar. Sumalatha is a middle class girl who is well educated and beautiful. Her father tries to get her married but is not able to meet the demands of high dowrys.
