The Blues Brothers is a 1980 English-language Adventure Comedy motion picture written by John Landis and Dan Aykroyd. The movie is directed by John Landis and produced by Robert K. Weiss under the banner of Universal Studios. After the release of Jake Blues from prison, he and brother Elwood go to visit The Penguin, the last of the nuns who raised them in a boarding school. They learn the Archdiocese will stop supporting the school and will sell the place to the Education Authority. The only way to keep the place open is if the $5000 tax on the property is paid within 11 days. The Blues Brothers want to help, and decide to put their blues band back together and raise the money by staging a big gig. As they set off on their mission from God they m to make enemies along the way. Will they manage to come up with the money in time? Written by Sami Al-Taher. The blues brothers stars John Belushi in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Dan Aykroyd, James Brown, Cab Calloway, Ray Charles, Carrie Fisher and Aretha Franklin. Cinematography was done by Stephen M. Katz and editing by George Folsey Jr. The movie has a running time of 133 minutes. It was released on 20th June 1980. The Film was successful at box office. The Blues Brothers was made on a budget of $30 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $115 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Universal Pictures.
