The Guard is a 2011 English-language Comedy Thriller motion picture written and directed by John Michael Mcdonagh and produced by Chris Clark, Flora Fernandez-marengo, Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe under the banner of Irish Film Board in collaboration with Reprisal Films, Element Pictures, Crescendo Productions, Aegis Film Fund, Prescience, RT and UK Film Council. An unorthodox Irish policeman with a confrontational personality is partnered with an up-tight F.B.I. agent to investigate an international drug-smuggling ring. The guard features Brendan Gleeson in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Don Cheadle, Mark Strong, Liam Cunningham, Fionnula Flanagan, Ronan Collins and Paraic Nialand. The music was composed by Calexico. Cinematography was done by Larry Smith and editing by Chris Gill. The motion picture has a running time of 92 minutes. It was released on 7th July 2011 in English and Irish languages. and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. The Guard was made on a budget of $6 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $19 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Element Pictures.
