The Littlest Rebel is a 1935 English-language Comedy Drama motion picture written by Harry Tugend and directed by David Butler and produced by Darryl Zanuck and Buddy G. Desylva. Shirley Temple's father, a rebel officer, sneaks back to his rundown plantation to his family and is arrested. A Yankee takes pity and sets up an escape. Everyone is captured and the officers are to be executed. Shirley and Bojangles Robinson beg President Lincoln to intercede. Written by Ed Stephan. The littlest rebel features John Boles, Jack Holt, Karen Morley, Bill Robinson, Shirley Temple, Guinn 'big Boy' Williams and Douglas Wood. The screenplay is written by Edwin J. Burke and Harry Tugend which is inspired from The Littlest Rebel 1909 play by Edward Peple. The music was composed by Cyril J. Mockridge along with Cyril Mockridge. Cinematography was done by John F. Seitz and editing by Irene Morra. The movie has a running time of 70 minutes. It was released on 27th December 1935. The movie made a box office gross of $1 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by 20th Century Fox.
