Sendhwa is a city and a municipality in Barwani district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is famous for cotton mandi. Sendhwa is also famous for its sites of historical interest, notably a black stone fort dating from the 16th century which has four main entrances, marking the four points of the compass. At the South door there is a temple complex, and therefore this is considered to be the main entrance. Another point of interest in the area is Bijasan Tekri, which is 15km from Sendhwa and located at the border of Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Also of importance are the Rajrajeshwar and Gaytri Temples located inside the Sendhwa fort. Sendhwa is the biggest revenue generating tehsil of the Barwani District and crucial in the regulation of law and order in the district.
