Pattamundai (also known as Patamundai) is a town and a notified area committee in Kendrapara district in the Indian state of Orissa. Pattamundai is located at 2034N 8634E / 20.57N 86.57E / 20.57; 86.57. It has an average elevation of 7m (23ft). As of 2001 India census, Pattamundai had a population of 32,724. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Pattamundai has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 65%. In Pattamundai, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age. Current MLA from Patamundai (SC) Assembly Constituency is Alekh Jena of BJD, who won the seat in State elections in 2009. Previous MLAs from this seat were Tapash Kumar Das representing BJD in 2000 and representing JNP in 1977, Ganeswar Behera of INC in 1995 and in 1985, Radhakanta Sethy of CPI(M) in 1990, and Bishwanath Mallik of INC(I) in 1980. Patamundai is part of Kendrapara (Lok Sabha constituency).
