Badaun or Badayun is a city in the north-central Uttar Pradesh state of northern India. According to George Smith, Budaun was named after Ahir prince Budh.
As of 2011 India census, Badaun City has area of 73 sq. km whereas the Budaun Urban area is spread over in 98 sq. km, which is from Naushera to ahead of Barah paththar on SH33. Budaun Urban Area includes Budaun City and adjoining Naushdra, Kheda Nawada, Sheikpur, Panchkuli and Baheri. As per provisional reports of Census India, population of Budaun City in 2011 is 459,221. The sex ratio of Budaun city is 907 per 1000 males.
