A Clockwork Orange is a 1971 English-language Crime Drama film written by Stanley Kubrick and Anthony Burgess. The movie is directed by Stanley Kubrick and produced by Stanley Kubrick under the banner of Polaris Productions in collaboration with Hawk Films. In future Britain, Alex DeLarge, a charismatic and psychopath delinquent, who likes to practice crimes and ultra-violence with his gang, is jailed and volunteers for an experimental aversion therapy developed by the government in an effort to solve society's crime problem - but not all goes according to plan. A clockwork orange features Malcolm Mcdowell, Patrick Magee, Adrienne Corri, Miriam Karlin, Michael Bates, Warren Clarke and Len Saunders. The screenplay is written by Stanley Kubrick which is inspired from A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess. The music was composed by Wendy Carlos. Cinematography was done by John Alcott and editing by Bill Butler. The motion picture has a running time of 136 minutes. It was released on 13th January 1972 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. A Clockwork Orange was made on a budget of $2 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $26 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Warner Bros. At the 1972 Venice Film Festival It won an award for Best Foreign Film.
