Battlefield Earth is a 2000 English-language Action Adventure film written by Corey Mandell, J.d. Shapiro and L. Ron Hubbard. The movie is directed by Roger Christian and produced by Jonathan Krane, Elie Samaha and John Travolta under the banner of Morgan Creek Productions in collaboration with Franchise Pictures. After enslavement and near extermination by an alien race in the year 3000, humanity begins to fight back. Battlefield earth stars John Travolta in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Barry Pepper, Forest Whitaker, Kim Coates, Richard Tyson, Sabine Karsenti and Michael Byrne. The screenplay is written by J. D. Shapiro and Corey Mandell which is inspired from Battlefield Earth by L. Ron Hubbard. The music was composed by Elia Cmiral. Cinematography was done by Giles Nuttgens and editing by Robin Russelle. The film has a running time of 117 minutes. It was released on 12th May 2000.
