Blackbeard, the Pirate is a 1952 English-language Adventure Romance film written by Devallon Scott and directed by Raoul Walsh and produced by Edmund Grainger. In 1674, reformed pirate Sir Henry Morgan is a high official in Jamaica, but Edward Maynard hopes to win a large reward by proving Morgan still dabbles in piracy. Maynard goes undercover as ship's surgeon with a Morgan henchman..who's been supplanted by notorious Blackbeard himself. Also on the ship is Edwina Mansfield, mingly a damsel in distress, to whom there's much than meets the eye. Written by Rod Crawford. Blackbeard, the pirate stars Robert Newton in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Linda Darnell, William Bendix, Keith Andes, Torin Thatcher, Irene Ryan and Alan Mowbray. The screenplay is written by Alan Le May. The music was composed by Victor Young. Cinematography was done by William E. Snyder and editing by Ralph Dawson. The film has a running time of 99 minutes. It was released on 29th June 1953. The motion picture made a box office gross of $1 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by RKO.
