Bombay Velvet is a 2015 Hindi-language Crime Drama movie written by Vasan Bala, Anurag Kashyap, Gyan Prakash, Thani and S.thanikachalam. The movie is directed by Anurag Kashyap and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl and Vikramaditya Motwane under the banner of Phantom Films. An ordinary man goes against all odds and forges his destiny to become a 'Big Shot'. Bombay velvet features Ranbir Kapoor in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Anushka Sharma, Karan Johar, Kay Kay Menon, Satyadeep Misra, Manish Chaudhari and Siddartha Basu. The movie is based on Mumbai Fables by Gyan Prakash. The music was composed by Filmfare Award winner Amit Trivedi. Cinematography was done by Rajeev Ravi and editing by Prerna Saigal and Thelma Schoonmaker. The movie has a running time of 149 minutes. It was released on 15th May 2015. Bombay Velvet was made on a budget of ₹118 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹22 crore. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Fox Star Studios.
