John Carter is a 2012 English-language Action Adventure motion picture written by Andrew Stanton, Mark Andrews, Michael Chabon and Edgar Rice Burroughs. The movie is directed by Andrew Stanton and produced by Jim Morris, Colin Wilson and Lindsey Collins under the banner of Walt Disney Pictures. Transported to Barsoom, a Civil War vet discovers a barren planet mingly inhabited by 12-foot tall barbarians. Finding himself prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter Woola and a princess in desperate need of a savior. John carter stars Taylor Kitsch in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciar N Hinds, Dominic West and James Purefoy. The screenplay is written by Andrew Stanton, Mark Andrews and Michael Chabon which is inspired from A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs. The music was composed by Michael Giacchino. Cinematography was done by Dan Mindel and editing by Eric Zumbrunnen. The film has a running time of 132 minutes. It was released on 8th March 2012. John Carter was made on a budget of $250 million and it was a hit at box office gross of $284 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Walt Disney Studios.
