Mr. Wise Guy is a 1942 English-language Comedy Drama motion picture directed by William Nigh and produced by Sam Katzman, Barney A. Sarecky and Jack Dietz. Mr. Wise Guy (the eighth in the East Side Kids series) finds the gang sent to the Wilton Reform School after they are unjustly convicted of stealing a truck. Bill Collins (Douglas Fowley), brother of co-leader Danny (Bobby Jordan), becomes involved in a killing and, while also innocent, is convicted and sentenced to death. Through a series of events, Muggs (Leo Gorcey), Glimpy (Huntz Hall), Danny and the rest of the gang, learn that Knobby (Billy Gilbert), a henchman of Luke Manning (Guinn Williams), knows something about the murder. Written by Les Adams. Mr. wise guy features East Side Kids, Leo Gorcey, Bobby Jordan, Huntz Hall, Billy Gilbert, Guinn 'big Boy' Williams and Charles Sullivan. The screenplay is written by Sam Robins, Harvey Gates and Jack Henley. Cinematography was done by Arthur Reed and editing by Carl Pierson. The motion picture has a running time of 70 minutes. It was released on 20th February 1942. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Monogram Pictures.
