The film follows Pondy Paandi , the son of a police inspector, who becomes involved in illegal activities. Naani stars Vijay Sethupathi in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Parthiban, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Rj Balaji, Manish Arya and Priyanka Rao. The music was composed by Anirudh Ravichander. Cinematography was done by George C. Williams and editing by A. Sreekar Prasad. The film has a running time of 145 minutes. It was released on 1st July 2016. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Lyca Productions.
