Neerja is about a courageous flight attendant of Pan Am Flight 73. She risks her life to save the passengers when the flight is Hijacked by the terrorist. The screenplay was written by Saiwyn Quadras and Sanyuktha Chawla Shaikh. The film was produced by Atul Kasbekar, Shanti Sivaram Maini and directed by Ram Madhvani. This 2016 biographical thriller stars Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Yogendra Tiku, Shekhar Ravjiani, Kavi Shastri and Sadh Orhan. When the actual hijack happened Sonam was only 1 year old. Clear cut editing by Monisha R Baldawa and adept cinematography by Mitesh Mirchandani makes it a watchable movie. It was released on 19 February 2016 and was distributed by Fox Star Studios. The music was composed by Vishal Khurana. The film was made on a budget of ₹20 crores and it collected ₹135.52 crores at the box office.
