Silk is a 2007 English-language Drama Romance film written by Alessandro Baricco, François Girard and Michael Golding. The movie is directed by François Girard. The story of a married silkworm merchant-turned-smuggler in 19th century France traveling to Japan for his town's supply of silkworms after a disease wipes out their African supply. During his stay in Japan, he becomes obsessed with the concubine of a local baron. Silk features Sei Ashina, Michael Pitt, Tony Vogel, Toni Bertorelli, Keira Knightley, Kenneth Welsh and Hiroki Takano. It was released on 22nd November 2007.
