The movie is directed by Oliver Stone, John Goetz and Poul-erik Heilbuth and produced by Moritz Borman, Philip Schulz-deyle, Eric Kopeloff and Fernando Sulichin. The NSA's illegal surveillance techniques are leaked to the public by one of the agency's employees, Edward Snowden, in the form of thousands of classified documents distributed to the press. Snowden features Joseph Gordon-levitt in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Scott Eastwood and Logan Marshall-green. The screenplay is written by Kieran Fitzgerald and Oliver Stone which is inspired from The Snowden Files by Luke Harding Time of the Octopus by Anatoly Kucherena. The music was composed by Craig Armstrong. Cinematography was done by Anthony Dod Mantle and editing by Alex Marquez and Lee Percy. The movie has a running time of 134 minutes. It was released on 15th September 2016. Snowden was made on a budget of $40 million and at the box office it grossed only $37 million.
