The Devil and Max Devlin is a 1981 English-language Comedy Family film written by Mary Rodgers and directed by Steven Hilliard Stern and produced by Jerome Courtland under the banner of Walt Disney Productions. When Max dies in an accident, he goes straight to hell. But the devil Barney makes him an offer: if he manages to get three innocent youths to sell him their souls in the next two months, he may stay on earth. Max accepts, and returns to earth, equipped with special powers. However his task is harder than expected, especially when 7 years old Tobi demands that he marry his mother. Written by Tom Zoerner. The devil and max devlin features Elliott Gould in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Bill Cosby, Susan Anspach, Adam Rich, Julie Budd, Sonny Shroyer and David Knell. The music was composed by Buddy Baker along with Joseph S. Dubin. Cinematography was done by Howard Schwartz and editing by Ray de Leuw. The motion picture has a running time of 96 minutes. It was released on 20th January 1981. The motion picture made a box office gross of $16 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Buena Vista Distribution.
