The Homesman is a 2014 English-language Drama Western motion picture written by Tommy Lee Jones, Kieran Fitzgerald, Wesley A. Oliver and Glendon Swarthout. The movie is directed by Tommy Lee Jones and produced by Brian Kennedy, Luc Besson and Peter M. Brant under the banner of EuropaCorp in collaboration with Ithaca and The Javelina Film Company. Three women who have been driven mad by pioneer life are to be transported across the country by covered wagon by the pious, independent-minded Mary Bee Cuddy, who in turn employs low-life drifter George Briggs to assist her. The homesman stars Tommy Lee Jones in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Hilary Swank, Meryl Streep, Grace Gummer, Miranda Otto, Sonja Richter and Jo Harvey Allen. The screenplay is written by Tommy Lee Jones, Kieran Fitzgerald and Wesley Oliver which is inspired from The Homesman by Glendon Swarthout. The music was composed by Marco Beltrami. Cinematography was done by Rodrigo Prieto and editing by Roberto Silvi. The film has a running time of 123 minutes. It was released on 18th May 2014.
