The Pretender is a 2019 English-language Documentary Biography movie written by Josh Boone and directed by James Franco and produced by Jay Davis, Vince Jolivette, Katie Leary, Scott Levenson, Jordan Yale Levine and Shaun Sanghani. Mike Kunda's life was changed forever when he saw the movie 'ROCKY' at age 11. Almost 40 years later Mike and his family struggle to identify where Rocky Balboa ends and Mike begins. The pretender stars Jack Kilmer in the title role along with Jane Levy, Shameik Moore, Juno Temple, Brian Cox, Dennis Quaid, James Franco and Mike Kunda in supporting roles. The music was composed by Mark Kozelek. Cinematography was done by Peter Zeitlinger. The motion picture has a running time of 90 minutes. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Cleopatra Entertainment.
