Viceroys House is a 2017 English-language Biography Drama motion picture written by Paul Mayeda Berges, Gurinder Chadha and Moira Buffini. The movie is directed by Gurinder Chadha and produced by Gurinder Chadha, Paul Mayeda Berges and Deepak Nayar. New Dehli in March 1947. The huge and stately Viceroy's Palace is like a beehive. Its five hundred employees are busy preparing the coming of Lord Louis Mountbatten, who has just been appointed new (and last) viceroy of India by prime minister Clement Attlee. Mountbatten, whose difficult task consists of overing the transition of British India to independence, arrives at the Palace, accompanied by Edwina, his liberal-minded wife and Pamela, his eighteen-year-old daughter. Meanwhile, in the staff quarters, a love story is born between Jeet, a Hindu, and Aalia, a Muslim beauty. Things will prove difficult - not to say very difficult - both on the geopolitical and personal level. Written by Guy Bellinger. Viceroys house features Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson, Manish Dayal, Huma Qureshi, David Hayman, Michael Gambon and Jawaharlal Nehru. The music was composed by Ar Rahman along with A. R. Rahman. Cinematography was done by Ben Smithard and editing by Victoria Boydell. The movie has a running time of 106 minutes. It was released on 18th August 2017. The motion picture made a box office gross of $11 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by 20th Century Fox.
