Weird Science is a 1985 English-language Comedy Romance film written and directed by John Hughes and produced by Joel Silver under the banner of Silver Pictures in collaboration with Hughes Entertainment. Two unpopular teenagers, Gary Wallace and Wyatt Donnelly, fail at all attempts to be accepted by their peers. Their desperation to be liked leads them to create a woman via their computer. Their living and breathing creation is a gorgeous woman, Lisa, whose purpose is to boost their confidence level by putting them into situations which require Gary and Wyatt to act like men. On their road to becoming accepted, they encounter many hilarious obstacles, which gives the movie an overall sense of silliness. Written by Jeff Ranous. Weird science stars Anthony Michael Hall in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Ilan Mitchell-smith, Kelly Lebrock, Bill Paxton, Suzanne Snyder, Judie Aronson and Robert Downey Jr. The music was composed by Ira Newborn. Cinematography was done by Matthew F. Leonetti and editing by Chris Lebenzon, Mark Warner and Scott K. Wallace. The film has a running time of 94 minutes. It was released on 2nd August 1985. The Film was successful at box office. Weird Science was made on a budget of $7 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $38 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Universal Pictures.
