Balichak (Bengali: ) is a census town in Paschim Medinipur district in the state of West Bengal, India. Balichak is located at 2222N 8733E / 22.37N 87.55E / 22.37; 87.55. It has an average elevation of 12metres (42feet). It is located in the Debra community development block in the Kharagpur subdivision of the Paschim Medinipur district. The Debra police station serve this town. Balichak is the headquarters of the Debra CD Block. As of 2001 India census, Balichak had a population of 12,206. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Balichak has an average literacy rate of 71%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 55% of the males and 45% of females literate. 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. there are two higher secondary schools in balichak. one boys' school and the other is girls' school
