About Bangarupalem ( Bangarupalyam )

Bangarupalyam is a small town but powerful in politics and center for mango business in South India. Bangarupalyam is famous for the Zamindari family and their power throughout the history. Bangarupalyam has been ruled by Palegars (also known as Palaekari, Naiker, Nayunivaru and Ekila) for centuries and survived through British rule in India. Several leaders emerged before and after British rule in this area and most notably Pothapala Venkatakrishnaiah (a.k.a Paradesi) who died at very young age fighting British. Bangarupalem zamindar lead very first fight against British in 18th century with several zamindari families in Chittoor and neighbouring districts. Bangarupalyam zamindars built and managed several temples, schools and most notably are Mogiliswara temple in Mogili and BZ High School in Chittoor.
