Bawani Khera is a city and a municipal committee in Bhiwani District in the state of Haryana, India. As of 2001 India census,[1] Bawani Khera had a population of 17,438. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Bawani Khera has an average literacy rate of 56%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with 63% of the males and 37% of females literate. 17% of the population is under 6 years of age. It is believed that 800 years ago, its name was "ANUPGARH", later changed to "BHVANI KHERA" and now "BAWANI KHERA". It is famous for several casts(approx. 36 casts) existing here. Bawani Khera is located exact in between Bhiwani and Hansi (18 km from Hansi and 18 km from Bhiwani) on the Bhiwani-Hisar Road [State Highway 17].
