Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Bermo has an average literacy rate of 65%, the national average of 59.5%; with 70% of the males and 60% of females literate. 15% of the population is under 6 years of age. Bermo is basically known by Central Coal Field Limited (CCL) & damodar valley corporation (DVC). A large coal mine in the area provides high-quality coal.
