Cherla is a mandal in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. It is located on the banks of River Godavari. Prior to 30 November 1959, it was a part of Bhadrachalam constancy[clarification needed] in Khammam district. Cherla is a small town located on the banks of River Godavari at 180430N 804937E. It has an average elevation of 78 metres (259 ft) and is also close to the Taliperu tributary of the Godavari.
