Aishwarya Rai Bachchan fondly known as Ash made her debut as a lead actor in the film Iruvar (1997). It was not until 1999 she got the breakthrough of her career with the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam which gave her stardom. There was no turning back after that and Aishwarya Rai was considered a very bankable star. She has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to her credit. Her maiden award was the Screen Award for Most Promising Debut Actress for Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Aishwaryas career so far are Iruvar (1997), Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya (1997), Jeans (1998), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999), Kandukondain Kandukondain (2000), Mohabbatein (2000), Devdas (2002), Chokher Bali (2003), Raincoat (2004), Provoked (2006), Dhoom 2 (2006), Guru (2007), Jodhaa Akbar (2008), Enthiran (2010), and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (2016)
to name a few.
Rai daughter of an Army biologist Krishnaraj and Vrinda was born on 1 November 1973 in Mangalore, Karnataka. She attended Arya Vidya Mandir High School, Jai Hind College and DG Ruparel College in Matunga. In 2009 she was honored with the Padma Shri by the Government of India and in 2012 she was honored with Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France.
