Baadshah is a 1999 Hindi-language Action Comedy movie written by Shyam Goel and Neeraj Vora. The movie is directed by Abbas Alibhai Burmawalla, Mastan Alibhai Burmawalla and Abbas-mustan and produced by Girish Jain, Bharat S Shah and Bhawar Jain under the banner of Venus Records and Tapes. A small time detective is mistaken as a CBI agent and gets embroiled in a deadly mission to save the Chief Minister from an assassination attempt. Baadshah stars Shah Rukh Khan in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Twinkle Khanna, Johnny Lever, Raakhee, Amrish Puri, Rakhee Gulzar and Prem Chopra. The screenplay is written by Shyam Goel. The music was composed by Surendra Singh Sodhi along with Anu Malik and Surinder Sodhi. Cinematography was done by Thomas Xavier and editing by Hussain Burmawala. The film has a running time of 176 minutes. It was released on 27th August 1999. Baadshah was made on a budget of ₹90 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹65 crore. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by B4U Films.
