Badla a suspense thriller stars Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu as the protagonists along with Antonio Aakeel, Tony Luke, Tariqsafdar Hussain, Manav Kaul, Tanveer Ghani and Amrita Singh in supporting roles. It is a 2019 Hindi movie which is an adaptation of the Spanish film The Invisible Guest directed by Oriol Paulo. The story follows an interview between a lawyer and a businesswoman, in which the latter insists that she is wrongfully framed for the murder of her lover. The film was written and directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The dialogues were written by Raj Vasant. The film was captured by Avik Mukhopadhyay and edited by Namrata Rao. Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Sunir Khetarpal, Akshai Puri and Gaurav Verma produced the film which was distributed by AA Films and Zee Studios. The production work was taken care of by Red Chillies Entertainment and Azure Entertainment. The film was shot in Glasgow, Scotland from June 14, 2018. The music album was composed by Amaal Mallik, Anupam Roy, and Clinton Cerejo while the lyrics were jotted down by Kumaar, A.M. Turaz, Siddhant Kaushal, Manoj Yadav, Anupam Roy, and Jizzy. The song “ Aukaat” was rapped by Amitabh Bachchan as he was inspired by Ranveer Singh’s rapper role in Gully Boy. Two first look posters containing Amitabh Bachchan’s character and Taapsee’s character were tweeted by Shah Rukh Khan on 11 February 2019 and the official trailer was released on YouTube by Red Chillies Entertainment on 12 February 2019. Three promotional videos containing the conversation of Amitabh and Shah Rukh Khan were launched on 3, 6 and 9 March 2019. The film was released on 08 March 2019, International Women’s day. The movie was made on a budget of ₹10 crores and collected approximately ₹138 crores. It received an average rating from the critics but was a super hit at the box office. The film was certified by the British Board of Film Classification and has a running time of 118 minutes.
