BIOGRAPHY

Inquilaab Srivastava fondly known as Big B and professionally known as Amitabh Bachchan made his debut as an actor in the film Saat Hindustani (1969). It was not until 1973 he got his first major hit with the movie Zanjeer which gave him stardom. There was no turning back after that and Amitabh Bachchan at present is considered a very bankable star. He has had a good career studded with a lot of awards to his credit. His maiden award was the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for Anand which has since been followed by many more. The iconic films in Amitabhs career so far are Zanjeer (1973), Deewaar (1975), Sholay (1975), Chupke Chupke (1975), Trishul (1978), Don (1978), Besharam (1978), Kaala Patthar(1979), Shaan (1980), Ram Balram (1980), Naseeb (1981), Lawaaris (1981), Kaalia (1981), Yaarana (1981), Barsaat Ki Ek Raat (1981) Shakti (1982), Mard (1985), Aakhree Raasta (1986), Shahenshah (1988), Agneepath (1990), Mohabbatein (2000), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... (2001), Black (2005), Sarkar (2005), Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006), Cheeni Kum (2007), Piku (2015), Pink (2016), and 102 Not Out (2018) to name a few. Bachchan son of Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan was born on 11 October 1942 in Allahabad. Has a double M.A. (Master of Arts) degree and is the alumni of Sherwood College, Nainital, and Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. The Government of India honored him with the Padma Shri in 1984, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015 for his contributions to the arts. In 2007 the Government of France Honoured him with the Knight of the Legion of Honour, its highest civilian award for his exceptional career in the world of cinema.
