Bernie is a 2011 English-language Biography Comedy film written by Skip Hollandsworth and Richard Linklater. The movie is directed by Richard Linklater and produced by Liz Glotzer, Richard Linklater, David Mcfadzean, Dete Meserve, Judd Payne, Celine Rattray, Martin Shafer, Ginger Sledge and Matt Williams under the banner of Castle Rock Entertainment in collaboration with Mandalay Vision, Wind Dancer Films, Detour Filmproduction, Collins House Productions and Horsethief Pictures. In small-town Texas, an affable mortician strikes up a friendship with a wealthy widow, though when she starts to become controlling, he goes to great lengths to separate himself from her grasp. Bernie features Jack Black in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Shirley Maclaine, Matthew Mcconaughey, Brady Coleman, Richard Robichaux, Rick Dial and Brandon Smith. The screenplay is written by Richard Linklater and Skip Hollandsworth which is inspired from Midnight in the Garden of East Texas by Skip Hollandsworth. The music was composed by Graham Reynolds.
