Boogie Nights is a 1997 English-language Drama film written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and produced by Lloyd Levin, John Lyons, Paul Thomas Anderson and Joanne Sellar under the banner of Lawrence Gordon Productions in collaboration with Ghoulardi Film Company. The story of a young man's adventures in the Californian pornography industry of the late 1970s and early 1980s. Boogie nights features Mark Wahlberg in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Julianne Moore, Burt Reynolds, Don Cheadle, John C. Reilly, William H. Macy and Heather Graham. The music was composed by Michael Penn. Cinematography was done by Robert Elswit and editing by Dylan Tichenor. The film has a running time of 155 minutes. It was released on 20th August 1998 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released and became successful at box office. Boogie Nights was made on a budget of $15 million and it was a super hit at box office gross of $43 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by New Line Cinema.
