Normal is a 2003 English-language Drama movie written and directed by Jane Anderson and produced by Thomas J. Busch, Cary Brokaw and Lydia Dean Pilcher. In the countryside of the United States of America, Irma Applewood and her husband Roy Applewood have been happily married for twenty-five years and they are model citizens in their community. Roy brings Irma to meet Reverend Dale Muncie, who is their pastor and friend, to tell that he is a woman trapped in a man's body and he will have a sex-change operation. Now Roy has to face the deception of his wife and the intolerance of his colleagues, members of his church and his son Wayne. But Irma loves him and after the impact of the news, she understands and supports him with their teenage daughter Patty Ann (Hayden Panettiere) and Roy's boss Frank ('Clancy Brown') that is their friend. Written by Claudio Carvalho, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Normal stars Jessica Lange in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Tom Wilkinson, Richard Bull, Mary Seibel, Danny Goldring, Hayden Panettiere and Randall Arney. The music was composed by Alex Wurman. Cinematography was done by Alar Kivilo and editing by Lisa Fruchtman. The movie has a running time of 110 minutes. It was released on 16th March 2003 and it received positive reviews from critics when it was released. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by HBO Films.
