Padayottam is a 1982 Malayalam-language Action Drama film directed by Jijo Punnoose and produced by Navodaya Appachan under the banner of Navodaya Studio. A prince comes back to his native land to take revenge on those who conspired against him. Inspired from the novel The Count of Monte Christo. Padayottam features Prem Nazir in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Madhu, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Mammootty, Lakshmi, Mohanlal Viswanathan and Shankar Panicker. The screenplay is written by N. Govindan Kutty which is inspired from The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. The music was composed by Guna Singh. Cinematography was done by Ramachandra Babu and J. Williams and editing by T. R. Shekhar. It was released on 16th September 1982. Padayottam was made on a budget of ₹50 lakh. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Navodaya Release.
