Pukar is a 2000 Hindi-language Action Drama movie written by Vijay Deveshwar, K.k. Raina, Anjum Rajabali and Rajkumar Santoshi. The movie is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Surinder Kapoor, Bharat S Shah, Boney Kapoor and Bharat Shah under the banner of S K Film Enterprises. Major Jaidev Rajvansh and his fellow officer Hussein manage to rescue a leading politician as well as capture his kidnapper.. Pukar features Anil Kapoor in the title role along with an ensemble cast including Madhuri Dixit, Namrata Shirodkar, Danny Denzongpa, Om Puri, Rohini Hattangadi and Farida Jalal. The screenplay is written by Rajkumar Santoshi and Anjum Rajabali. The music was composed by Ar Rahman along with A. R. Rahman. Cinematography was done by Ashok Mehta, Santosh Sivan, Baba Azmi and Chota K. Naidu and editing by V. N. Mayekar. The motion picture has a running time of 165 minutes. It was released on 11th February 2000. Pukar was made on a budget of ₹17 crore and at the box office it grossed only ₹13 crore. Distribution rights for the movie were acquired by Eros International. At the 2001 National Film Awards It won an award for Best Actor (Anil Kapoor).
