The Day The Sky Exploded is a 1958 English-language Sci-Fi movie written by Sandro Continenza, Marcello Coscia and Virgilio Sabel. The movie is directed by Paolo Heusch and Mario Bava and produced by Guido Giambartolomei under the banner of Royal Film in collaboration with Lux Film and Lux Compagnie Cin matographique de France. Scientists discover that a group of meteors are hurtling on a collison course with Earth, and if they hit, the planet will be destroyed. The day the sky exploded stars Paul Hubschmid in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Madeleine Fischer, Fiorella Mari, Ivo Garrani, Dario Michaelis, Peter Meersman and Jean-jacques Delbo. The screenplay is written by Marcello Coscia and Alessandro Continenza. The music was composed by Carlo Rustichelli. Cinematography was done by Mario Bava and editing by Otello Colangeli.
