Dredd is a 2012 English-language Action Crime film written by John Wagner, Carlos Ezquerra and Alex Garland. The movie is directed by Pete Travis and produced by Allon Reich, Andrew Macdonald and Alex Garland under the banner of DNA Films in collaboration with IM Global and Reliance Entertainment. In a violent, futuristic city where the police have the authority to act as judge, jury and executioner, a cop teams with a trainee to take down a gang that deals the reality-altering drug, SLO-MO. Dredd features Karl Urban, Olivia Thirlby, Wood Harris, Lena Headey, Rachel Wood, Andile Mngadi and Julie Summers. The screenplay is written by Alex Garland which is inspired from Judge Dredd by John Wagner Carlos Ezquerra. The music was composed by Paul Leonard-morgan. Cinematography was done by Anthony Dod Mantle and editing by Mark Eckersley. The movie has a running time of 95 minutes. Dredd was made on a budget of $50 million and at the box office it grossed only $41 million. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Entertainment Film Distributors.
