The Goal is a 1999 Hindi-language motion picture written by Deeya Roy and directed by Gul Bahar Singh. The Goal was produced under the production house Children's Film Society. This movie is about kid who is a football player but is not accepted in a local football club only because his father is a thief. His coach guides him about a new club and the new club defeats the local club in a tournament. The story teaches us a lesson that talent comes in smaller packages and is not bound to any color or caste. Written by Shyamal Sinha. The goal stars Irrfan Khan in the title role along with Tapas Dhali, Punya Darshan Gupta, Girish Mathur, Manoj Mitra, Anandita Saha and Sanjay Sharma in supporting roles.
