The Magic Touch is a 1992 Cantonese-language Comedy Crime movie directed by Michael Hui and produced by Michael Hui under the banner of Hui's Film Production in collaboration with Topping Time Films. A fortune teller (Michael Hui), who gives pretentious forecasts, was investigated by a revenue agent (Leon Lai) for failing to pay his taxes. However, the teller's lucky break came when he received a blow to the head during a robbery attempt, resulting him in receiving psychic powers. Thus, hoping this would get the agent off his back, he uses his new-found powers to try to help the agent solve a drug smuggling case that has been plaguing the revenue service. Written by Oliver Chu. The magic touch features Michael Hui in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Leon Lai, Ricky Hui, Winnie Lau, Sunny Fang, Kong Fong and Chi Wah Wong. The screenplay is written by Michael Hui and Dayo Wong. The music was composed by Tats Lau. Cinematography was done by Herman Yau and editing by Teddy Chan. It was released on 24th January 1992. The movie made a box office gross of $36 million. Distribution rights for the film were acquired by Newport Entertainment.
