The Manchurian Candidate is a 2004 English-language Drama Mystery movie written by Richard Condon, George Axelrod, Daniel Pyne and Dean Georgaris. The movie is directed by Jonathan Demme and produced by Jonathan Demme, Ilona Herzberg, Scott Rudin and Tina Sinatra under the banner of Scott Rudin Productions. In the midst of the Gulf War, soldiers are kidnapped and brainwashed for sinister purposes. The manchurian candidate features Denzel Washington in the lead role along with an ensemble cast including Meryl Streep, Liev Schreiber, Jon Voight, Kimberly Elise, Ted Levine and Jeffrey Wright. The screenplay is written by Daniel Pyne and Dean Georgaris which is inspired from The Manchurian Candidate 1959 novel by Richard Condon 1962 film The Manchurian Candidate. Distribution rights for the motion picture were acquired by Paramount Pictures.
