It is the administrative headquarters of the district. It is very lush in Monsoon season (July to September) but also prone to flooding. Gadchiroli is located at 2006N 8000E / 20.10N 80.0E / 20.10; 80.0. It has an average elevation of 217metres (715feet). Gadchiroli District is one of the biggest in Maharashtra in terms of area. The main languages spoken are Marathi, Hindi, Bengali, Gondi, Madiya and Telugu. Also it is considered to be beautiful during the monsoon season. It is surrounded by a teak wood forest.
