Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Ghumarwin has an average literacy rate of 78%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 80%, and female literacy is 76%. In Ghumarwin, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age. It lies on Shimla-Dharamshala National Highway and is situated on the bank of Seer Khad. Freedom fighter Anant Ram sharma and Param Vir Chakra awardee Sanjay Kumar belonged to Ghumarvin. Beautiful view of the city comes from Harlog (near telecom towers) Earlier it was part of Kingdom of Maharaja NAND CHAND.
