Kharagpur is a town and a notified area in Munger district in the Indian state of Bihar.Kharagpur is located at 25.12N 86.55E.[1] It has an average elevation of 48 metres (157 feet).As of 2001 India census,[2] Kharagpur had a population of 26,910. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Kharagpur has an average literacy rate of 47%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 55%, and female literacy is 39%.
