Hosdurga is a panchayat town in Chitradurga district in the Indian state of Karnataka. Hosdurga is located at 1348N 7617E / 13.8N 76.29E / 13.8; 76.29. It has an average elevation of 739metres (2424feet). As of 2001 India census, Hosdurga had a population of 22,480. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Hosdurga has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 68%. In Hosdurga, 12% of the population is under 6 years of age. Hosadurga is one of the most backward regions in terms of Industrialization, Agriculture is one of the mainstays of living in this region.
