Jhajjar (Hindi: ) is a town in Jhajjar district in the Indian state of Haryana.Jhajjar is one of the 21 district of Haryana state, India. Jhajjar district, Haryana was carved out of Rohtak district on July 15, 1997. Jhajjar is located at 2837N 7639E / 28.62N 76.65E / 28.62; 76.65. It has an average elevation of 220metres (721feet). As of 2001 India census, Jhajjar had a population of 39,004. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Jhajjar has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 61%. In Jhajjar, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age. Jhajjar is predominantly inhabited by people from the Yaduvanshi Sainis, Yaduvanshi Ahirs and Jats who belong to the Hindu faith.
