Jamai is a city and a municipality in Chhindwara district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.Jamai is located at 22.2N 78.58E.[1] It has an average elevation of 748 metres (2454 feet). As of 2001 India census,[2] Jamai had a population of 22,426. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Jamai has an average literacy rate of 76%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 82%, and female literacy is 69%. In Jamai, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.
