About Khandar

Khandar is a tehsil of district Sawai Madhopur, Rajasthan. The river Banas flows through Khandar. It is located at 260000N 763600E / 26N 76.6E / 26; 76.6. More than 70% of the population is literate. Languages spoken are Hindi, Harauti and Pashto. The main livelihood is agriculture. The sources of water are open wells and tube wells. But in nowadays MATHUR VAISH are in majority.Mathur vaish(BANIYA) are going to be sound in financial context. The Rameshwaram Temple is 20km from Khandar on the confluence of the Banas and Chambal rivers. There is a beautiful temple of lord Chaturbhuj nathji as well as a Shiva temple on the ghat of chambal river. Which is very old monument but due to lack of care, it is collapsing. A famous yearly mela (fair) is organized a fortnight after deepawli on next poornima.
