Lakhandur is a taluka town and a tehsil in Sakoli subdivision of Bhandara district in Nagpur revenue Division in the Berar region in the state of Maharashtra, India. The town is 90km from Nagpur. Connecting roads are in a fairly decent condition. Nearest railhead is at Desaiganj (Wadsa). It is also a Constituency of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. The total population of the town is approx 10,000 with agriculture being the mainstay of the population. The town has a 3 makeshift colleges and a couple of high schools.Yashawatarao chavyan collage of arts and science,M.B.Patel collage of arts and commerce these are the two collages which provides higher education to rural students.These collage comes under the Nagpur university.Educational infrastructure provided in this region is not well suited for technical education.there is no good science collage or polytechnic collage.
